Amazing Bike Tours: Unique Cycling Adventure Tours

Koh Yao Expedition: 3 days & 2 nights

Introduction:

Koh Yao Noi (Little Long Island) and Koh Yao Yai (Big Long Island) are two sleepy islands still enjoying a slow pace of life located in Phang Nga Bay, only 1 hours boat ride away from the international resort island of Phuket.

The moment you step on to these islands the usual stress and worries of every day life melts away and the island pace of life gets a hold of you. While Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country these islands are mainly populated by peaceful Muslim communities that make a living from fishing, rice farming and rubber tree plantations. The recent arrival of tourism to these islands hasn’t affected the warm welcoming locals.

Our bike tour in these islands will have us cycling through a small market town, rice paddies, past mosques and fishing villages, through areas of natural jungle rich in plant life and fauna. The Koh Yao Expedition by bike tour isn’t all biking, we will also visit the artistic locals who create Batik Paintings and you will have the opportunity to create your own Batik Painting. On the final day of this Cycling tour a boat trip to local islands that rise magnificently from the sea is included.

This Biking tour combines small paved island roads with very little traffic as well as some off road dirt tracks through jungle areas and rubber trees.

The distances covered are not excessive and anyone with a reasonable level of fitness will be able to enjoy this cycling tour. Some of the off road sections are hilly and can be a bit challenging but these sections are optional.

Unlike Amazing Bike Tours other tours on the mainland, our support vehicle does not join us on The Yao Islands. Our mini buses will provide transport from your Phuket hotel to the pier, once we arrive in Koh Yao Noi after a 1 hour scenic boat journey our bags will be transferred to our accommodation by local transport.

Day 1:

Amazing Bike Tours staff will pick you up from your Phuket hotel, transfer to Bang Rong pier where we load our bikes and belongings on to the local boat. The support vehicle does not join us for this tour. After a 1 hour scenic journey we arrive in Koh Yao Noi. After a short ride we visit some Islanders who make Batik paintings, feel free to try yourself. We then continue onwards a short way and arrive at our accommodation. A breathtaking view awaits you from these bungalows perched on the hillside. After lunch and some time spent enjoying the view we will do a circular bike ride of the island. Circular route is only 18km with only a few hills. There is an optional off-road route for those with the fitness level and off-road ability.
After making a circumference of the island we will arrive at a seafood restaurant by the ocean where we can enjoy spectacular sunset.
After dinner local transport will transfer our group and our bikes back to our accommodation
for a good nights sleep

Day 2:

If you’re not too tiered from the previous day we recommend you rise early as the sunrises from our accommodation are most definitely worth getting up for. After some breakfast we ride 10km to the pier and cross over to the island of Koh Yao Yai using local “long tail” boats.
On the Island of Koh Yao Yai we will ride a circular route, past paddy fields and buffalo’s and amazing ocean views. Part of the loop is some enjoyable off road trails.
Our lunch stop is by beach side restaurant with views across water towards Krabi.
We bike back to the pier and cross back to Koh Yao Noi and cycle back to our accommodation. Local transport will take us to the small village in the evening so we can enjoy dinner in a small welcoming restaurant.
Ride: 45 KM. Meals: B/L/D. Tabaek Viewpoint Bungalows.

Day 3:

After breakfast a short ride to the pier where we will take a boat and cruise to the north of the island and visit the famous “Big Tree”, and the picturesque “Three Islands” Don’t forget your camera. After our scenic boat ride we return to the pier and enjoy some local cuisine. A short ride brings us back to our bungalows to collect our belongings, these will be transferred to the pier as we pedal our way there. After a 1 hour boat journey we are back on Phuket Island. Transfer to your hotel or Phuket airport.
Ride: 15 KM. Meals: B/L.

Koh Yao Expedition Facts & Figures

This Biking tour combines small paved island roads with very little traffic as well as some off road dirt tracks through jungle areas and rubber trees.

Amazing Bike Tours Khao Sok & Cheow Lan Lake Adventure Tour is much more than just biking, on the second afternoon we will arrive at spectacular Lake that covers 165 square Kilometers, while at the Lake you will have plenty of time to swim, kayak, hike, and take sightseeing trips via local long tail boats on the lake to appreciate the scenery and spot the local wildlife, a visit to some impressive caves with stalagmite and stalactite formations is also part of our extensive bike and adventure tour program.

Trip profile:

This Biking tour combines on and off road riding, the on road riding is on well surfaced roads, the off road trails on the first morning through rubber tree plantations are easy for all people regardless of the biking experience. In the afternoon we will tackle some more off road sections within the Khao Sok National Park, these trails are wide with some hilly sections, however a cool refreshing river awaits us to cool down our bikers. The second day consists of on road biking with some hilly sections but none are too steep. This bike tour is followed by a support vehicle with the exception of the off road sections, during the off road sections our support vehicle full of refreshments and spare parts is always in radio contact with Amazing Bike Tours tour leader.

Day 1:

Amazing Bike Tours driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Phuket or Khao Lak, in Khao Lak area we will stop at Police patrol boat washed 1 and a half kilometers in shore in the December 2004 Tsunami. We will drive another 15 Km before unloading the bikes, after a safety briefing we will cycle for a few Km’s along well paved roads so every one has a chance to become familiar with our Trek Mountain Bikes, then we shall leave the main road and cycle through rubber tree plantations. After joining the main road again we will cycle in to the historic town of Takuapa for a delicious Thai lunch. While you enjoy lunch the bikes will be loaded on to our mini bus and then we will transfer by road to a mountain overlooking Khao Sok National Park. During the afternoon we will cycle both on and off road in the Khao Sok Area along side rivers and water falls.
Ride: 40 KM. Meals: L/D. Jungle Cliff & River Resort.

Day 2:

We continue further north cycling on road, stopping at a Thai Buddhist temple on route. Making merit and good luck for our trip by feeding the temple fish. After a 40KM ride in the morning on well surfaced roads we will arrive in the small Thai town of Baan Takhun where a delicious Thai meal awaits our hungry bikers. Following lunch some may chose to join the mini bus or jump back on the bikes for the final 12 KM to reach Rajjaphapa Dam and Cheow Lan Lake. Here a local Thai long tail boat awaits to take us to our accommodation on floating raft houses. Jump in the lake for a refreshing swim, take a kayak and explore the lake. A late afternoon or sunset boat trip is available for those that want to join.
Ride 40-52 KM. Meals: B/L/D. Raft House on Cheow Lan Lake.

Day 3:

Getting up for sunrise at the Lake is highly recommended, watching the mist in the mountain tops and listening to the Gibbons calling. After breakfast a boat journey exploring the Lake will bring us to the start of our hike through the dense forest, our hike brings us to another smaller lake; a short raft journey will allow us to reach a cave with impressive stalagmite and stalactite formations.
The return hike and boat trip will bring us back to our Raft house for a refreshing swim and some lunch. Transfer back to the dam where our mini bus awaits to take you back to your accommodation in Khao Lak or Phuket.

Khao Sok & Cheow Lan Lake Adventure- Facts & Figures

Krabi Explorer: 3 days and 2 nights.

Introduction:

This Bike trip takes place in Krabi province; one of Thailand’s most beautiful and geographically striking provinces. The area is famous for its lime stone karsts that rise dramatically from land and sea. The area boasts beautiful countryside and many small villages making it a perfect location for our cycling tours.

The cycling routes will have us biking along quiet back roads and through palm and rubber tree plantations, passing small villages and Buddhist temples.

Amazing Bike Tours Krabi Explorer is more than just biking; we will visit the famous Emerald Lake which makes for a perfect swim in the fresh water after the mornings bike ride. A later cycle break at a hot stream, natures natural hot Jacuzzi is always appreciated by biker’s tired legs.

On the final day our cycle route will bring us to a Thai temple, for those with energy you can walk up the 1272 steps to the Buddhist monument perched on top of the mountain, the view is definitely worth the climb. Watch out for all the monkeys.

Amazing Bike Tours Krabi Explorer combines on and off road cycling. The on road riding is on well surfaced roads, we have chosen back roads which are quiet for your biking enjoyment. The off road is not demanding, wide dirt tracks passing through rubber and palm tree plantations; the cycling on this trip is suitable for people of all levels.

This bike tour is followed by a support vehicle with spare parts and refreshments. This means at any time you are feeling tiered you can jump in and still enjoy the same views as every one else.

Day 1:

Amazing Bike Tours driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Phuket. We will drive for 125 km in the direction of Krabi province. We join a quiet back road and start cycling. In the morning we will cycle with pleasant views of rubber tree and palm tree plantations. After a distance of 26 km we will arrive at a small Thai style restaurant for our
lunch break.
After lunch we will transfer by mini bus along the main highway for a distance of 35km. Leaving the main highway and joining another back road we will unload the bikes and start cycling with impressive views of the lime stone karsts Krabi is famous for. A ride of 24 km will bring us to the beach resort of Ao Nang. Time to relax, swim in the pool or visit the beach before our evening meal.
Ride: 50 KM. Meals: L/D. Green View Resort, Ao Nang.

Day 2:

A one hour transfer by mini bus will bring us to the start point of today’s cycling. After a pleasant 18km we will arrive in the vicinity of Emerald Lake. A 3km trek through the jungle we bring us to Emerald Lake, a fresh water lake of outstanding clarity, jump in and enjoy a refreshing swim.
After lunch at a local restaurant, a 12km ride will bring us to a hot stream, natures natural Jacuzzi. Enjoy the hot stream to loosen the muscles after the cycling.
Transfer back to Ao Nang.
Ride 30 KM. Meals: B/L/D. Green View Resort, Ao Nang.

Day 3:

The cycling starts directly from the resort, our route will combine on and off road, cycling through rubber tree plantation and palm tree plantations with dramatic lime stone karsts all around us. The ride will pass a small road side temple with a reclining Golden Buddha. Our ride will bring us to Tiger Cave Temple. No longer home to Tigers but is now the residence of many monkeys. A Buddhist monument is perched on top of the mountain, if you have the energy, walk up the 1272 steps to visit the monument; the view makes the climb worth while. We head in to Krabi town for lunch. Transfer to your hotel in Ao Nang Krabi or
Phuket.
